Thermador has been making the American kitchen more beautiful and powerful with innovative appliances for 100 years. From the very beginning, the brand was known to introduce groundbreaking appliances that took the cooking experience to the next level so culinary enthusiasts could enjoy their time in the kitchen. With the introduction of innovative appliances like the first built-in oven and cooktop, first self-cleaning oven, steam and convection and induction technology, Thermador has quickly revolutionized the heart of the home.
Cleaning up after crafting a feast for friends and family has never been the fun part of entertaining, and as the American lifestyle became busier, there was a growing interest in appliance features that could simplify time spent cleaning. Thermador helped to make life easier for home entertainers in 1963 when it introduced the first self-cleaning oven.
While the first 50 years in Thermador history saw a plethora of new introductions, the brand continues to push the boundaries with new innovations. For example, during the 1990s Thermador changed the shape of gas cooking forever with the Star® Burner. While the aesthetics of the Star® Burner make it extremely appealing, the design was not created purely for show. The star shape creates a perimeter that is 56% longer than a round burner of the same size. This allows for more flame ports that deliver a superior flame spread, reduce cold spots and allow cooks to enjoy a faster and more even heating across any size pan.
Do you remember what you were doing in 2010? Thermador was busy showing off its new steam and convection ovens. Cooking with steam is a trend on the rise in today’s markets, but Thermador was way ahead of the game when it introduced this new product more than five years ago. Steam cooking offers a wide range of benefits including healthier cooking because there’s no need for extra oil or fat, better reheating than a microwave because food can better retain moisture, flavor and texture, better browning of meat and so much more.
As induction technology became more popular, Thermador was again ahead of the game. The Freedom® Induction Cooktop made its way into the homes of culinary enthusiasts four years ago, giving them the ability to cook on the largest, fully usable cooking surface. The Freedom® Induction Cooktop has more than 30 international patents for its natural-mapping user interface, which is capable of intelligently recognizing cookware size, shape and position. This translates to 63% more effective cooking area with instantaneous and precise temperature control – as well as quick and easy clean up!
Kitchen technology continues to evolve, and as Thermador enters its second century, culinary enthusiasts and trade professionals can look forward to more innovation from the brand and even more beautiful appliances to transform the American kitchen.
