————————

After all this waiting, we finally have Thermador installed in one of the kitchens! It took a while to coordinate schedules due to travel and work commitments, but we managed to make it happen in our Wichita home.

It’s a brand new home with the standard appliances that, well, quite frankly, worked pretty poorly. The oven heated unevenly and the stovetop never got hot enough for my style of cooking. It just took forever waiting for water to boil. Double-time if I’m standing there watching it.

The first appliance to go in was the Thermador Built-in Convection Microwave, probably one of the most used appliances in the home, as my bachelor brother who works very long hours as a cardiologist lives in this home.

Here’s our before photo with coordinating doggy bowl:

Pretty simple to remove, we just popped that old microwave right out. What we forgot to do was measure the cabinet guy to come make a larger hole, since this new Thermador unit is bigger with the trim kit. The Convection Microwave needs a bit more space than the Thermador Traditional Microwave due to the airflow that the convection needs.

So for right now, we’ve got it partly installed — and will wait for the cabinet guy to come fix.

Next up was the dishwasher. Our old one wasn’t designed well enough.  The baskets were shallow and not adjustable. The top rack didn’t provide enough space for our tall drinking glasses. And forget about putting in wine glasses — it didn’t wash delicately enough for our stemware.

Happy to get rid of that thing!

And voila! Here’s the new Thermador Sapphire dishwasher with adjustable racks and six different cycles (so that I can put in my stemware — woohoo!)

Uh….please excuse the photo – the installer was in the way of the shot.:)

And finally, the biggest nightmare in my kitchen will be removed. This here range is responsible for dozens of meals gone horribly wrong. Oh yes, you betcha that I blame every single baked mishap on this monster!

Ahhh, much better. It’s a beauty, isn’t it?! This is a Thermador Pro Harmony Professional Series range, absolutely perfect in every way. I can’t wait to cook a prime rib for Thanksgiving! The Star® Burners are gentle enough to simmer delicate sauces and powerful enough to get a pot of water boiling for pasta in half the time as our old stove!

We still have the Thermador Steam & Convection Oven to install — which will require the cabinet guy to make some changes to fit. I hope to update you on that in the next post!
