Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman… and Mom. Moms can truly be superhuman – they’re always there when we need them, they offer comforting hugs in time of need, they love us unconditionally and always have reassuring words of wisdom to share even when it seems like the world is falling apart. While we are always grateful to Mom, there is one day out of the year when we can go above and beyond to make her feel like the rock star that she is!
There are a million-and-one ways to make mom feel the love on Mother’s Day – but we know that the best gifts always come from the heart, and we also know that putting together a special homemade meal is sure to make her smile.
What’s the fastest way to make a recipe amazing? Add chocolate! Chocolate pancakes to start the day, maybe some chocolate brownies as a mid-day treat, followed by chocolate truffles for dessert – there is literally no limit to what you can do with chocolate and you know mom can’t say no to a decadent, delicious chocolatey desert.
A close second to the decadence of chocolate is wine. Pairing delicious food with the perfect bottle of wine can be a divine experience – so as you’re cooking up your Mother’s Day menu make sure you select the right bottle of wine to go along with it; preferably Mom’s favorite varietal. And, while you’re at it, why not add wine right into the recipe? Check out this recipe for Beef Braised in Barolo – this wine is known as the “wine of kings” (or queens, in the case of Mom).
Want to go a more traditional Mother’s Day route? Prepare a warm breakfast and serve it to her in bed. Moms are always on the go making sure everything is perfect for the family at all times of the day, so on Mother’s Day reverse the roles and make sure she takes the time to relax and let the rest of the family pamper her. One of our favorite fool-proof breakfast dishes is a light and fluffy Spinach and Goat Cheese Frittata (a plus of this ‘egg’cellent breakfast dish is no crumbs in bed).
No matter how you choose to celebrate on Mother’s Day on May 8, Mom is sure to appreciate the attention and every effort that comes from the heart.
