An artful cocktail bar? A secret speakeasy? A pink porcelain pantry? It can only mean one thing… Thermador has once again partnered with House Beautiful for the 2019 Kitchen of the Year. I had the honor of heading down south to experience the beauty of this incredible house firsthand, and it did not disappoint!

The showstopping 18,000-square-foot project—a spectacular Dallas home with four kitchens—revolves around extravagance and entertaining. I was blown away by the spectacular space! The talented designer Michelle Nussbaumer of Ceylon et Cie, doesn’t shy away from big and bold. “I’ve held the line in maximalism for the last 30 years,” says Nussbaumer. “I like to incorporate whatever makes me happy in my own kitchen.” Here’s a closer look at all the glamorous details.

Pretty in Pink (with Thermador Blue)
The main kitchen includes a walk-in porcelain pantry, pink and blue cabinets, a showstopping Thermador Range, and two blue-paneled Thermador Dishwashers on either side of the sink. Every inch of this kitchen was gorgeous and well thought out. From the fabulous mural to the statement-making chandelier, this kitchen truly steals the spotlight. “It’s really overscale, but works with everything happening here,” says Nussbaumer.

A Secret Speakeasy
This was one of my favorite rooms in this unbelievable house! The speakeasy is outfitted with a Thermador Speed Oven, Under-Counter Double Drawer Refrigerator, WIFI-enabled Coffee Machine, and Wine Preservation Columns. The sleek appliances are surrounded by bold red cabinetry, as well as grass-cloth wallpaper designed by Nussbaumer and Paul Montgomery.

Artful Entertaining
The upper level of the home is outfitted with a full art kitchen, patterned in Nussbaumer’s own pink and purple ikat print. Vibrant mix-and-match tiles sweep the floors, meeting a Thermador Under-Counter Wine Reserve nestled in the corner of the kitchen and at-the-ready for entertaining. Nussbaumer states that she and her husband like to escape to the art kitchen and cook. “It feels like we’re young and in a faraway place again,” she says.

A Muraled Masterpiece

This blue muraled bar was designed in a space with 18-foot-high ceilings. Nussbaumer gives background to where the inspiration for this extraordinary art came from. “I kept a picture of a mural I saw in Paris, and Paul Montgomery helped re-create it on silver Mylar wallpaper.” The cocktail bar is equipped with Thermador Under-Counter Wine Reserves, gleaming gold-handled drawers, and extravagant floral décor.
