With festival season almost among us, we have the desert on the mind! And what better way to get ready for one of the most vibrant and spirited times of the year than by revisiting one of our favorite Palm Springs pastimes – Modernism Week 2018! From the palm trees, to the cool breeze, to the stunning Thermador appliances housed in a magnificent Moroccan-style masterpiece home, it was certainly a week to remember. Here are some of the highlights from our best Modernism Week experience yet!

Created to celebrate and foster appreciation of midcentury architecture and design, Modernism Week is a truly memorable experience. This year’s Modernism Week celebration brought Thermador back to CAMP, where we co-sponsored a live kitchen with cooking demonstrations and expert panels, along with Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. With a standout selection of our newest and most innovative appliances to date – including the Freedom® Induction Cooktop, Masterpiece Series ovens, Under Counter Refrigeration collection and the Star-Sapphire® Dishwasher, just to name a few – Thermador collaborated with top chef influencers, designers and bloggers to bring the future of the kitchen to Palm Springs.

Bringing a fresh perspective to culinary creativity, Top Chef Brooke Williamson infused elements of the south in her live cooking demonstration at CAMP – featuring a delicious dish of buttermilk biscuits with fresh shrimp and crab gravy! To keep the good times rolling, Todd and Diane of White on Rice Couple brought a fun flair to the event with their “Roll With It” interactive demonstration of different ways to create the ever-popular quiche – this was a definite crowd-pleaser!

Another memorable moment of the 10-day celebration? Thermador appliances in the captivating Moroccan Modern show home! Designed in 1975 by architect Hal Lacy, the custom-built home located on a pristine corner lot in Indian Canyons is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Upon entering the stunning property, visitors are greeted by majestic custom-carved double-entry doors – which seem to immediately transform anyone who enters them into another world. The beautifully-appointed kitchen, which boasts a stunning array of Thermador appliances – including Freedom® Collection Fresh Food and Freezer Columns, a 24” Built-In Wine Preservation Column and a 48” Pro Harmony® Gas Range, a built-In microwave and two dishwashers – perfectly completed the look of this luxurious kitchen. One thing was certain, we were absolutely mod about this breathtaking home!
